Heidy Loeff
„My intention is to contribute to people understanding
and fulfilling the requirements of today’s diversity“.
Born in the Netherlands, I did cultural studies with focus on anthropology, philosophy and literature. Positivism, a very Dutch characteristic, has always been a part of me. What options do you have if you practically „live underwater“ (approximately one quarter of the Netherlands is below sea level)? You need to take a decision: Either you hate or you love water. The Dutch took the positive path. They make use of water in a creative and active manner. They are enthusiastic water sportsmen and passionate consumers and exporters of beers, which they brew from all that water. They build dykes and ships, on which they sail the seven seas and learn to love foreign cultures. They are born cosmopolitans and feel at home everywhere. Since 1980, I have been living in Germany and in the Netherlands, have been and am working for well-known companies as coach and consultant around the globe. Accordingly, the experiences I include in my coachings, trainings and seminars are multicultural and intercultural.
As a coach and trainer, I act in a very pragmatic, existentialist and holistic manner. The mental as well as external, physical approach is holistic and, as such, is at the focus of my consultations and trainings.
The term „holism“ was coined by the South African Jan Christiaan Smuts (1870-1950). Yet, already Aristotle taught us that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
In holistic thinking, attention is placed on the relation between the object in focus and the context in which it is situated. It means to include the connection of everything with everything. Holism attempts to explain events and developments on that base. Holistic approaches are based on experiences rather than on abstract logic.
